Social Activities at Volunt2Thai – Making a Lasting Difference Together
Volunt2Thai stands for genuine solidarity and sustainable engagement in rural communities of Northern Thailand. Its social activities cover a wide range of projects – all with the goal of improving the quality of life for local people in a lasting and meaningful way.
A key focus lies in supporting the elderly. In many remote villages, access to basic healthcare is limited – especially when it comes to rehabilitation after strokes. This is where Volunt2Thai steps in: by integrating physiotherapy and occupational therapy into community support projects, an essential gap in care is being filled.
These therapies are invaluable for many elderly villagers. They help restore mobility, reduce pain, and enable individuals to regain independence in their daily lives. Especially after a stroke, continuous care is crucial – yet often unavailable. Volunt2Thai brings this much-needed support directly into the communities.
Volunteers with backgrounds in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or related fields have the opportunity to make a real impact. They work closely with patients, supporting their recovery journey and offering not only physical assistance but also hope, motivation, and human connection.
In addition to therapeutic services, the program also includes broader social activities and community work: assisting with daily tasks, organizing activities for the elderly, and strengthening social bonds within the villages.
Volunt2Thai demonstrates how powerful human connection can be – and how much can be achieved when people share their knowledge, time, and compassion.

Read Tabea's Story

Hi my name is Tabea Benz,
I’m from Germany I was 20 years old when I was 6 months at Volunt2Thai. I was really glad about combining the project with my physiotherapy skills. I wanted to improve my skills, help and care about people to make their lives less painful or a bit “sunnier”, even it’s just due to a smile or good conversation. I also think that voluntary service has contribute to my personal development it offers one the opportunity to stand on the own feet. To find my way in a foreign country, to get to know people with other cultures and to learn a new language or to improve my English are very important reasons for me to do a gap. Understanding and tolerance are important values to build good relationships.

In particular, by working with local people in social institutions, you will gain deep insights into the lifestyle of local people while doing an internship in social work abroad.
