Volunt2Thai: my first experience as an international volunteer,
I had been thinking about doing an experience as international volunteer in the South East Asia for many months. After a lot of researches on the web I decided to send my application to Volunt2Thai, a NGO who works for a long time in Ban Lao district, Amphoe Pen, Udon Thani.
I’m a musician, a classical pianist, I’m from Italy and I prepared a music project of 4 weeks for the children of 4 schools where Volunt2Thai is present with its volunteers. I focused my project on the rhythm and on the song, specifically using a Christmas songs.

The volunteers life takes place at the Volun2Thai Campus and it is good to know that the life situation here is very different from the European life. The Campus is welcoming and as soon as I arrived there I saw the beautiful paintings on the outside walls of the rooms, the nature around the Campus is wonderful and I saw there some of the best sunsets and sunrises of my life.
But the nature is always with you: severals insects, spiders, butterflies, and also snakes will be the new friends for your stay there. The toilets and the kitchen are “open” and they are in the garden, so the level of hygiene there is completely different from European standards.
The night the sounds of the nature have been my new lullaby. I’s important to know this because for live in the Campus it’s necessary a big spirit of adaptation. I have had the big pleasure to know Raimund Wagner, the president of Volun2Thai and his family, and 2 other lovely volunteers from Thailand and from Belgium and this is an other very interesting part of volunteering activity. Many thanks to all of you for making this wonderful experience possible.
