With Gratitude – and in Memory of Our Dear Friend Mr. Stephen Fountain

It has been almost 14 years since our very first house – the small wooden hut – arrived on campus. Back then, it was a huge step for us: we needed something ready to live in immediately. So, the house came fully assembled on a truck with a crane and was placed directly onto the freshly poured concrete foundation.
From the very beginning, this house was far more than just a building. It became a symbol of Volunt2Thai – a place full of memories and a silent witness to our journey. It gave the very first volunteers who came to support the children at our schools a place to stay.
But time and circumstances have left their marks. Especially during the long months of the COVID period in 2020, when the campus stood empty, nature slowly moved in. Mice, termites, and the harsh climate caused considerable damage.

Now, at last, it is possible to begin the urgently needed renovation work – and for that, we are deeply grateful. That we are even able to start this demanding repair project is thanks to the late Mr. Stephen Fountain and his dear daughter Hayley. A few weeks ago, Hayley contacted us to share the sad news of her father’s passing. She told us that it had been his heartfelt wish to support our work one more time, even after his death.

Stephen was a very dear friend – a strong man who taught English to the children in our schools with great joy and warmth. We miss him deeply and wish to express our heartfelt thanks to him and his family, who have made the start of this major undertaking possible. The generous sum of 800 British pounds that the Fountain family transferred to us has enabled us to begin the renovation.

However, more funds are urgently needed to complete the project in full. The team from Bouworde Vrijwilligersreizen Belgium, who will be here at the end of the month to actively help on-site, have already contributed an additional donation.
And so, dear friends, I kindly ask for your support: please help us raise the remaining funds so that we can complete this financially demanding project.

With gratitude,
Raimund Wagner and family
