Wir möchten uns von Herzen bei Patrick Pho-Ngam Forstner bedanken – besser bekannt als Mr. Global Thailand 2024 – für seinen Besuch bei Volunt2Thai.

Patrick ist weit mehr als nur ein Titelträger. Als Nationalspieler der thailändischen Eishockeymannschaft, international erfahren in Ländern wie Österreich und Kanada, verkörpert er Disziplin, Einsatz und Durchhaltevermögen. Sein Erfolg – unter anderem als Weltmeister 2024 in der Division III Gruppe A – zeigt, was möglich ist, wenn man an sich glaubt und konsequent seinen Weg geht.

Warum sein Besuch so wichtig war

Sein Besuch hatte für uns eine besondere Bedeutung. Patrick steht für eine neue Generation: international geprägt, offen, engagiert und gleichzeitig tief mit Thailand verbunden. Genau diese Verbindung ist es, die auch unsere Arbeit bei Volunt2Thai ausmacht.

Für unsere Volunteers und insbesondere für die Kinder war seine Anwesenheit inspirierend. Er ist ein lebendiges Beispiel dafür, dass Herkunft keine Grenzen setzt, sondern Chancen eröffnet – wenn man bereit ist, Verantwortung zu übernehmen und seinen Beitrag zu leisten.

Noch bedeutender wird sein Engagement durch seine Arbeit als Trainer der thailändischen Para-Eishockey-Nationalmannschaft. Dort zeigt er, dass echter Einsatz weit über persönliche Erfolge hinausgeht. Es geht darum, andere zu stärken, Chancen zu schaffen und gemeinsam etwas aufzubauen.


Ein starkes Zeichen für Gemeinschaft und Verantwortung

Dass sich jemand wie Patrick die Zeit nimmt, unser Projekt zu besuchen, sendet ein klares Signal: Gesellschaftliches Engagement zählt. Es geht nicht nur um Titel oder Karriere, sondern darum, wie man seinen Einfluss nutzt.

Sein Besuch hat nicht nur Motivation gebracht, sondern auch gezeigt, wie wichtig Vorbilder sind – Menschen, die nicht nur reden, sondern handeln.

It was a special moment for our project: Alf Poier, known for his appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest, visited Volunt2Thai.

His visit was more than just a stop along the way. He brought curiosity, openness, and a genuine interest in what we do—qualities that are invaluable in our daily work. People like him have the ability to build bridges: between cultures, between different realities of life, and between individuals who might otherwise never meet.

Why His Visit Mattered

Volunt2Thai is built on exchange. Our projects in rural Northern Thailand depend on people who don’t just come to help, but who are willing to understand. When someone like Alf Poier takes the time to be present, to listen, and to experience daily life on the ground, it sends a powerful message:

Social engagement is not about status or profession—it’s about mindset.

His presence inspired our volunteers and strengthened the local community. For many children and young people, it was a unique experience to meet someone from a completely different world who still connected with them on an equal level.

Dank einer großartigen Initiative von **Lea, ihrer Familie und ihren Freundinnen und Freunden aus Belgien** konnte im
**Volunt2Thai Project – Volunteer to Thailand อาสาสมัครประเทศไทย** ein wichtiges Bauprojekt umgesetzt werden.

Durch ihre Spendenaktion und das Engagement aller Beteiligten wurden Spenden gesammelt**, mit denen die **Fenster im Musikraum erneuert** werden konnten. Der Raum ist nun besser vor Witterungseinflüssen geschützt , speziell in der Regenzeit und bietet den Kindern eine deutlich angenehmere Umgebung zum Musizieren, Lernen und Zusammensein.

Otto the Long-Distance Walker was on the road again!
A heartfelt thank you for his generous donation to benefit the children.

Background: Every year in Isan, tragic accidents occur because many children cannot swim.
in 2025, Otto donated 31,000 Baht to Ban Kon Liab School. The funds will be used to build a small swimming area where the children can receive swimming lessons.

As a special surprise, Otto brought the children KFC meals – an experience that brought them great joy.
Volunt2Thai sincerely thanked our long-time friend and supporter Dr. Otto Zeitlberger, who once again had embarked on a long-distance hike – from Bangkok to the Volunt2Thai Campus! For every kilometer walked, Otto had collected donations in support of the schools in the project area.

As every year, Volunt2Thai will once again organize a joyful **Christmas Lunch for around 180 children** from Ban Nong Kung School, Ban Kon Liab School, and Ban Don Sri Samran School.
**Date:** 19 December 2025
**Location:** Ban Nong Kung School
We will cook and serve a delicious festive meal for the children. The school will be decorated for the occasion, and the children can enjoy as much food as they like. There will be **music, singing, and small gifts** to bring smiles and laughter to everyone.
Many of the children have very little. They are in need of **school supplies for the coming year**, and for many of them, the **school lunch is the most important meal of the day**.

Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that the school runs out of food during the year — in such cases, **Volunt2Thai helps by providing rice and groceries** to make sure the children don’t go hungry.
We’ll meet at **7:00 a.m. at the Volunt2Thai Campus** to start preparing the food together.
Please bring **small gifts, cookies, drinks, school supplies, or sports equipment such as footballs and volleyballs** – every contribution helps make this a magical day!
Anyone who would like to help is warmly invited to actively participate. Let’s join hands to make this a wonderful end-of-year celebration.

But with around 650 children across eleven schools, our goal is to collect 100 balls, ensuring every child has the chance to play, learn, and enjoy sports.

Lengerich/Tecklenburg – Thailand. Freude, Bewegung und Kindheit – das sind die Werte, die ein neuer Spielplatz an der Ban Nong Kung Don Daeng Grundschule in Nordthailand künftig schenken wird. Möglich gemacht haben dies die SchülerInnen und Lehrkräfte der Gesamtschule Lengerich/Tecklenburg (GeLeTe), die mit großem Engagement eine Spendensumme von insgesamt 43.000 Baht (rund 1.100 Euro) gesammelt haben.

Die Partnerschaft zwischen der GeLeTe und der thailändischen Grundschule besteht bereits seit 2021 und steht unter der Schirmherrschaft der gemeinnützigen Organisation Volunt2Thai. Gegründet wurde die Initiative von Raimund Wagner, der sich seit Jahren für Bildungsförderung und Gemeinschaftsprojekte in ländlichen Regionen Thailands einsetzt.

Die Spenden wurden durch kreative Aktionen beim Einschulungsgottesdienst sowie Verkaufsstände während der Projekttage in der letzten Schulwoche gesammelt. „Die Begeisterung und das Verantwortungsbewusstsein unserer SchülerInnen haben uns tief beeindruckt“, so eine Lehrkraft der GeLeTe. „Es ist schön zu sehen, wie junge Menschen über Grenzen hinweg Verantwortung übernehmen und den Gedanken globaler Solidarität mit Leben füllen.“

Das gesammelte Geld wird nun vollständig in den Bau eines neuen Spielplatzes auf dem Gelände der thailändischen Partnerschule investiert. Für die Kinder dort bedeutet das nicht nur mehr Raum zum Spielen, sondern auch eine wertvolle Förderung ihrer motorischen und sozialen Entwicklung – und ein Stück gelebte internationale Freundschaft. „Eine Investition in Freude, Bewegung und Kindheit“, wie Raimund Wagner von Volunt2Thai es treffend beschreibt.

Mit viel Kreativität und Engagement gestalteten die Schüler*innen die Ausstellung selbst. Sie zeigte Briefe und Fotos der Kinder der Ban Nong Kung Schule sowie Eindrücke aus dem Volunt2Thai-Projekt. Besonders spannend: Die Jugendlichen beantworteten die Briefe der thailändischen Kinder, die Lehrerin Frau Wirth aus Thailand mitgebracht hatte. Ein wunderbares Beispiel dafür, wie lebendig und bereichernd internationale Schulpartnerschaften sein können!
