It was a special moment for our project: Alf Poier, known for his appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest, visited Volunt2Thai.

His visit was more than just a stop along the way. He brought curiosity, openness, and a genuine interest in what we do—qualities that are invaluable in our daily work. People like him have the ability to build bridges: between cultures, between different realities of life, and between individuals who might otherwise never meet.

Why His Visit Mattered

Volunt2Thai is built on exchange. Our projects in rural Northern Thailand depend on people who don’t just come to help, but who are willing to understand. When someone like Alf Poier takes the time to be present, to listen, and to experience daily life on the ground, it sends a powerful message:

Volunt2Thai – An Absolute Recommendation for Families!

Before we became part of the Volunt2Thai project for one month in January 2026, we had spent many years traveling through Thailand with our backpacks – and more recently with our two children (5 and 7 years old). We always believed we knew this country, its people, and its culture very well. But it was only after our time with Raimund, the founder of Volunt2Thai, and his family that we truly did.

Volunt2Thai offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and rural life of the “real” Thailand. For us as a family, participating in this project has been the most valuable and enriching experience we have ever had.

Even before our arrival, communication with Raimund was quick and uncomplicated. Throughout our entire stay, it was very important to him that we felt comfortable. He was always approachable and present. Through the close connection with him and his children, we quickly felt like part of a big family ourselves. Mutual support in everyday (family) life, shared excursions, playing games (board games we brought, basketball, football, boxing), cooking, eating, and spending evenings together made us feel welcome, safe, and at home. Even shared cleaning and tidying activities strengthened the sense of community.

There is always something to do on campus, but there is also space to retreat and enjoy some personal time. “Me-time” definitely doesn’t get lost. There are also many sweet and cuddly cats on campus – a special joy for children.

The time spent in the different schools, which Raimund visits daily with the volunteers, quickly became part of our routine. Teaching English brought joy both to us and to the students. In coordination with the local teachers and Raimund, it is always possible to design lessons in different ways. In addition to traditional classroom teaching, we played many games and worked in small groups for conversation training. Anyone bringing creative and educational ideas is welcome to put them into practice.

Our children were easily integrated into daily school life and were welcomed with great openness by the students. Both sides benefited enormously from this exchange.

As every year, Volunt2Thai will once again organize a joyful **Christmas Lunch for around 180 children** from Ban Nong Kung School, Ban Kon Liab School, and Ban Don Sri Samran School.
**Date:** 19 December 2025
**Location:** Ban Nong Kung School
We will cook and serve a delicious festive meal for the children. The school will be decorated for the occasion, and the children can enjoy as much food as they like. There will be **music, singing, and small gifts** to bring smiles and laughter to everyone.
Many of the children have very little. They are in need of **school supplies for the coming year**, and for many of them, the **school lunch is the most important meal of the day**.

Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that the school runs out of food during the year — in such cases, **Volunt2Thai helps by providing rice and groceries** to make sure the children don’t go hungry.
We’ll meet at **7:00 a.m. at the Volunt2Thai Campus** to start preparing the food together.
Please bring **small gifts, cookies, drinks, school supplies, or sports equipment such as footballs and volleyballs** – every contribution helps make this a magical day!

But with around 650 children across eleven schools, our goal is to collect 100 balls, ensuring every child has the chance to play, learn, and enjoy sports.

Lengerich/Tecklenburg – Thailand. Freude, Bewegung und Kindheit – das sind die Werte, die ein neuer Spielplatz an der Ban Nong Kung Don Daeng Grundschule in Nordthailand künftig schenken wird. Möglich gemacht haben dies die SchülerInnen und Lehrkräfte der Gesamtschule Lengerich/Tecklenburg (GeLeTe), die mit großem Engagement eine Spendensumme von insgesamt 43.000 Baht (rund 1.100 Euro) gesammelt haben.

Die Partnerschaft zwischen der GeLeTe und der thailändischen Grundschule besteht bereits seit 2021 und steht unter der Schirmherrschaft der gemeinnützigen Organisation Volunt2Thai. Gegründet wurde die Initiative von Raimund Wagner, der sich seit Jahren für Bildungsförderung und Gemeinschaftsprojekte in ländlichen Regionen Thailands einsetzt.

Die Spenden wurden durch kreative Aktionen beim Einschulungsgottesdienst sowie Verkaufsstände während der Projekttage in der letzten Schulwoche gesammelt. „Die Begeisterung und das Verantwortungsbewusstsein unserer SchülerInnen haben uns tief beeindruckt“, so eine Lehrkraft der GeLeTe. „Es ist schön zu sehen, wie junge Menschen über Grenzen hinweg Verantwortung übernehmen und den Gedanken globaler Solidarität mit Leben füllen.“

Das gesammelte Geld wird nun vollständig in den Bau eines neuen Spielplatzes auf dem Gelände der thailändischen Partnerschule investiert. Für die Kinder dort bedeutet das nicht nur mehr Raum zum Spielen, sondern auch eine wertvolle Förderung ihrer motorischen und sozialen Entwicklung – und ein Stück gelebte internationale Freundschaft. „Eine Investition in Freude, Bewegung und Kindheit“, wie Raimund Wagner von Volunt2Thai es treffend beschreibt.

Großartige Neuigkeiten aus Ban Nong Kung!
Gerade komme ich vom Gemeinderat – und ich darf euch etwas Wunderschönes erzählen: Die Kinder unserer Ban Nong Kung Schule (4–12 Jahre) sollen einen neuen Spielplatz bekommen!
Ganz besonders liegt uns ein vielseitiger Spielbereich für die Jüngsten am Herzen – ein sicherer, bunter und kreativer Ort für Vorschulkinder (4–6 Jahre), aber auch für alle Kinder bis 12 Jahren. Ein Platz zum Toben, Lachen, Lernen – und einfach Kind sein dürfen.
Damit dieses Herzensprojekt Wirklichkeit wird, sind wir auf Spenden angewiesen. Und es gibt schon großartige Nachrichten:
500 € wurden durch die Schulpartnerschaft mit Tecklenburg (Deutschland) gesammelt – durch liebevoll organisierte Kuchenverkäufe und tolle Aktionen.
600 € hat Biogena Austria (Vitamins & Supplements for Immune System) oben draufgelegt – ein riesiges Dankeschön für diese großzügige Unterstützung!

Great news from Ban Nong Kung!
I just returned from a meeting with the local council – and I have something wonderful to share: The children of our Ban Nong Kung School (ages 4–12) are going to get a new playground!
We’re especially excited about creating a versatile play area for the youngest ones – a safe, colorful, and creative space for preschoolers (ages 4–6), but also for all children up to 12 years old. A place to run, laugh, learn – and simply be kids.
To make this heartfelt project a reality, we rely on donations. And there’s already some amazing news:
€500 were raised through our school partnership with Tecklenburg (Germany) – through lovingly organized bake sales and great initiatives.
Biogena Austria (Vitamins & Supplements for Immune System) topped it up with an additional €600 – a huge thank you for this generous support!
We sincerely thank Biogena for this valuable commitment!

Schulbesuch auf der Ban Nong Kung Don Daeng Grundschule in Thailand 

Die Gesamtschule Lengerich/Tecklenburg (GeLeTe) hat offiziell ihre Schulpartnerschaft mit der Ban Nong Kung Don Daeng Grundschule in Thailand bestätigt.

Die Partnerschaft besteht seit 2021 und steht unter der Schirmherrschaft der gemeinnützigen Organisation Volunt2Thai, unter der Leitung von Raimund Wagner dem Gründer von Volunt2Thai, die sich für Bildungsförderung in ländlichen Regionen Thailands einsetzt. Dank des Engagements der SchülerInnen und des Kollegiums der GeLeTe konnte kürzlich eine beeindruckende Spendensumme in Höhe von rund 580 Euro gesammelt werden.

Die Spenden kamen durch Aktionen beim Einschulungsgottesdienst sowie durch kreative Verkaufsstände an den Projekttagen in der letzten Schulwoche vor den Ferien zusammen. ⛄⭐🎄🎅 Our Christmas party and lunch were a great success! All the children had full bellies and enjoyed a day full of fun and joy. ❤️🙏☺️

As every year, we organized a festive Christmas lunch for 180 children 🔔🎁🌲🦌. The event took place on December 23, 2024.

On the morning of December 23, we met at 7:00 am at the Volunt2Thai campus. We prepared and cooked a delicious meal for the children from Ban Nong Kung School, Ban Kon Liab School, and Ban Don Sri Samran School.

The celebration was held at Ban Nong Kung School, which the childdren and the teachers  had lovingly decorated. Together, we ensured that the children had a wonderful end-of-year celebration. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this special day possible! ❤️🙏☺️
